Paris Hilton 'arrested with cocaine' in Las Vegas |
American socialite Paris Hilton has been arrested in the US for alleged possession of cocaine, police say.
Ms Hilton was arrested by Las Vegas police when they stopped a car in which she was a passenger.
Officers found some suspicious powder in the car, which later proved to be cocaine.
She was booked into the county jail and will be charged and released on bail later, police said.
Ms Hilton was briefly arrested in July by South African police who suspected her of smoking marijuana, but she was later released without charge.
She served time in jail for drunk driving in 2007.

Scottish drug death drop revealed |
The number of drug-related deaths in Scotland fell last year but still remains high, according to new figures.
There were 545 drug-related deaths in 2009 - 29 fewer than the previous year and the second highest on record.
Heroin and morphine were linked to more than half of the total.
The Registrar General for Scotland warned the number had risen in seven of the past 10 years, with the long-term trend heading upwards.
Heroin and morphine were the biggest contributor, linked to 322 deaths, while heroin substitute methadone was implicated in 173 deaths.

'Tame' bears guard Canadian marijuana farm |
Police raiding a marijuana farm in western Canada were astonished to find black bears apparently guarding it.
However initial alarm wore off when officers realised the 10 or so bears did not behave aggressively and were in fact docile and tame.
Police believe dog food was used to attract the animals onto the farm in British Columbia.
But they say the bears may have to be put down if they have become accustomed to living around humans.
Two people were arrested in the raid.
The five police who went to the farm near Christina Lake, close to the US border, to dismantle the marijuana plantation were amazed when the bears loped into view.
"They were tame, they just sat around watching. At one point one of the bears climbed onto the hood of a police car, sat there for a bit and then jumped off," said Royal Canadian Mounted Police sergeant Fred Mansveld.
In Canada, feeding bears is illegal as it leads to bears associating food with humans and increases the likelihood of bears coming into towns and cities to look for food.
Conservation officers are deciding the fate of the bears

Colombia arrests 'major cocaine trafficker' |
A Venezuelan businessman suspected of being part of a major drug trafficking ring has been arrested by Colombian authorities.
Walid Makled Garcia, 43, who is wanted by the US on drug charges and Colombia and Venezuela on murder charges, was caught in the border city of Cucuta.
He is accused of trafficking 10 tons of cocaine every month to the US and Europe.
Colombian police have hailed the arrest as a significant success.
Colombian police chief Gen Oscar Naranjo said that Mr Makled is on a US extradition list as "one of the world's most wanted drug traffickers".
Also known by his alias "The Turk", Mr Makled is wanted by a New York court for allegedly being part of a group which regularly smuggles large amounts of cocaine to the US and European markets.

Benzocaine targeted in drugs war on 'cutting agents' |
Police say they are making a major dent in drug dealers' profits by seizing large quantities of chemicals used to dilute cocaine and other class A drugs.
Pharmaceutical drugs benzocaine and lidocaine cost around £10 a kilo to buy but can be sold for up to £50,000 a kilo if mixed with some cocaine.
But the Serious Organised Crime Agency said these mixtures can be dangerous.
It said in some cases buyers are sold cocaine that is 100% benzocaine, so maximising profits for the dealers.
Legitimate uses The national police unit has stepped up seizures of these cutting agents at ports and airports.
Although benzocaine and lidocaine are legal substances, it is illegal to supply these chemicals to the underground drugs trade.
The drugs are used legitimately in the UK as a dental anaesthetic and as an ingredient in first aid ointments, throat sprays and sunburn remedies.
But drug dealers like to use it in powder form to dilute pure class A and class B drugs such as naphyrone and mephedrone because of the numbing sensation it offers when placed on the skin.
A few months ago, officers from the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) seized 83 barrels (two tonnes) of benzocaine in one week, the Press Association news agency reported.
Investigators had been monitoring suspicious operations for six months previously.
The drugs were delivered to four people at Felixstowe sea port and Stansted airport.
That haul represented one-fifth of the UK's annual legitimate use of the drug and as the importers were unable to explain why they had wanted such a large quantity, the drugs were incinerated.
An officer from Soca told PA that these raids were "targeted preventative measures" which would "seriously damage" the criminal market.
He said: "It is keeping money out of the trade because they cannot maximise their profits, money that is often reinvested in criminal activity.

Shock at drug and alcohol abuse by under-12s |
More than 120 children under the age of 12 in Wales were referred for specialist help for drug and alcohol problems, figures reveal.
They include 66 cases of alcohol abuse, 13 of cannabis use and 17 of heroin use.
Dr Andrew Dearden, British Medical Association in Wales chairman, said the figures for 2008-09 were "shocking".
Wales' chief medical officer said work was under way to raise awareness about the damage drugs and alcohol can cause.
The assembly government figures show that 126 children were referred by their GPs for specialist substance misuse help.
But Dr Dearden, who has a surgery in Cardiff, said he feared the figures were "the tip of the iceberg" as they only included those who had been to see a doctor.
He said the youngest person he had referred for alcohol help had been aged around 16.

Cops seize $15m worth of cocaine |
Berlin - German police said on Wednesday they had seized a shipment of 351kg of cocaine worth millions of euros and smashed an international drug smuggling gang, making nine arrests in the process.
Experts estimated the black-market value of the pure cocaine, hidden in containers of sandstone and shipped to the northern German port of Hamburg from Paraguay via Argentina, at $15.1m.
Customs officials in Hamburg were tipped off by colleagues in Hong Kong who discovered cocaine in a container exported from the sandstone factory in Paraguay.
Following raids last week, police arrested nine suspects aged between 20 and 56.
